Hello!
My name is Audrey and I was selected to be the 2014 Friends of St. Patrick Young Irish Ambassador from the Arizona Chapter! This summer I will be traveling to Northern Ireland for two weeks to visit the Friends of St. Patrick Center in Downpatrick as well as other parts of Northern Ireland. I will be studying the traditions and history of the people of Northern Ireland. A large part of my job is to go and learn as much as I can about the country and share what I have learned, I hope to do part of that through this blog!
I was born and raised in Mesa Arizona. I am a Theatre Education Major with a Minor in Dance at the University of Northern Colorado. I have one semester of Student Teaching left this fall, in which I will be teaching in Arizona . My degree allows me to teach theatre or drama in the public schools or to be a teaching artist and work in education outreach. I started dancing at age two after watching The Nutcracker I have loved dancing ever since then. I started doing Theatre in high school and loved it.
I believe that the performing arts teach students compassion and empathy and I believe that these are vital skills. I hope to inspire a new generation to love the arts.
I will use this blog as a journal of my experiences as one of this years Friends of St. Patrick Young Irish Ambassadors. If you would like to learn more about the Friends of St. Patrick or becoming a Young Irish Ambassador next year you can check out http://saintpatrickcentre.com/friends.php?id=6&page=gallery&dropdown=0 I would also like to thank the Arizona Chapter of the Friends of St. Patrick for selecting me and supporting me. Thank you! I am so grateful for the amazing opportunity.
- Audrey
